I'm Circe. I'm kind of a goth, sort of an environmentalist, completely a feminist, pretty much a liberal, etc. etc. etc. I live in a big city having various adventures and whatnot. I like to dance. Also, pie.

This journal is a mirror of my Dreamwidth journal. I cross-post most of what I post there, but not all of it.

This is my fandom/journal away from RL friends so I can babble without hurting anyone's feelings and indulge in my fannishness without having to explain myself. Anyone's welcome to friend me, though if you want me to friend you back, please leave me a comment telling me why you friended me just so I know where you came from! :) But again, I mostly post personal babbling and fannish squees, so it probably won't make all that much sense. It also (mostly) unlocked and isn't as edited for the public like my RL journal (and most people's journals, I'm guessing) is, so I may come across as crazy, obsessive, repetitive, vindictive and/or suicidal, (did I mention crazy?) and also incredibly boring. So if you're here cause I commented on something of yours, sorry for the weirdness. I'm not quite as crazy as I seem.

-----

A quick note on friending- my interests/userpics give a good idea of my interests, fannish and otherwise; however, if:
- Anyone has ever used the word intolerant to describe you
- You don't have/are not close to anyone with a serious mental illness yet believe psychiatric medication is a crutch/useless/a conspiracy
- Have ever publicly posted fic and/or meta primarily devoted to why a character OMG sucks/is evil/unworthy of another character's love (and/or been accused of character bashing)
- Have ever used the phrase "I'm not a feminist, but..."
- You think slash is cool yet think femmeslash is icky (same goes for the slash=edgy/het=stupid school of thought)

...I'm telling you right now we will probably not get along. Otherwise, friend away! (though as I said above, if you want to be friended back please comment here just so I know why you friended me and that you're not a spambot.) Though if you have Dreamwidth as well as LJ, I do prefer that you friend me on DW- I'm there more often and have more icons.

-----

I have lots of fandoms! (current fandom obsession: Doctor Who) And I'm in fandom for the ladies- all of my fandoms have to have at least one strong female protagonist as a central character, though the more the better! I also require this of the fic I read- the real world is androcentric enough for me, thanks. :P (My thoughts on most of fandom.) I also get enough gloom and doom in the real world, so I prefer things with minimal angst.

Re: current fandom, aka Doctor Who:
I am entirely uninterested in Moffat due to to the numerous sexist and borderline misogynistic comments he is so fond of making. As such, I haven't watched anything beyond Season 4 and although I vaguely keep up with the characters and plotlines, I'm not really interested in watching the new stuff, and don't plan to. (so don't expect to see Eleven/Amy/Rory/River in my Photoshop adventures) Good thing I have 40 years to catch up on. ;)

Who Fandom Note #2:
I love all the companions*. Seriously. Though yeah, Rose Tyler is my favorite. If you're at my journal and that upsets you because you've run into crazy shippers, um, I'm sorry? There are crazy shippers for every ship in every fandom, so chill. And fewer things in fandom drive me into as much of a raving froth of anger as character bashing, women hate and/or positioning characters as evil romantic rivals. If you're a character basher you're not welcome on my journal. And no, disliking a character, or being critical of them isn't *remotely* the same as bashing or hate. If you can't tell the difference between "I don't like how Martha's arc is Season 3 is so focused on the Doctor.", "I think Rose and the Doctor bring out the worst in each other." or "I find Tegan's character irritating because of X." and "Martha's a jealous bitch who doesn't realize that Rose is the Doctors TRUE LOVE.", "Rose/Ten is so incredibly disgusting it makes me want to vomit." or "Gwen deserves to die for cheating on Rhys." (or you've joined the Anti-Gwen-Alliance), then I can't help you. And sorry to disappoint, but you can still be a basher even if you use big words, footnotes, theory or references in your bashing. I understand your big words and your (slightly more pretentious) hate is still showing.

I also love all the Doctors with Rose, because they are all the Doctor. So if you're one of those "Ugh, Rose was only good when she was with Nine!" people or "Ugh, that stupid clone** ruined my ship, I am going to write fic where he dies horribly!" types we are probably not going to get along either.

*up to the end of Season 4, anyway, which is as far as I've seen. I've also got some gaps during Doctors 1-3, but I'm working on it.

**- HE'S NOT A CLONE. Really. Check any dictionary.

So I'm doing that thing again where I haven't posted in a good long time and although I've wanted to start posting again I've had the tab open on my browser for weeks because the thought of posting is very intimidating.

So I'm just going to bite the bullet and post and not try to come up with something long and amazing.

I hope everyone is doing well!

If anyone's left, what are you reading/watching/listening to these days? I enjoyed Jessica Jones a lot, but I thought this season of Agent Carter was kind of meh.

(last one, sorry for the flist spam)

So I while back I rewatched Syfy's Alice, fell in love with it again, and read a bunch of awesome fic. It's visually stunning and inventive, and I love both Alice and Hatter.

shippy but totally sfw Alice & Hatter under the cutCollapse )

So a billion years ago I made a manip of Martha, Donna and Rose hanging out in the TARDIS together because I love them all and wish they got to hang out more. This was loosely inspired by jigglykat's brilliant fanart.

Please excuse/ignore the deluge of posts- it appears I never posted a bunch of older manips I swore I did? Whoops. Anyway, there is some Rose/Rose behind the cut, which I made when the author of my favorite Ten/Rose/TenII series (that would be fid-gin, and the series would be the Loved'verse) posted a new one off in the series featuring that Rose meeting dimension-jumping Rose. (The story was By Any Other Name)

Sorrow everywhere. Slaughter everywhere. If babies
are not starving someplace, they are starving
somewhere else. With flies in their nostrils.
But we enjoy our lives because that's what God wants.
Otherwise the mornings before summer dawn would not
be made so fine. The Bengal tiger would not
be fashioned so miraculously well. The poor women
at the fountain are laughing together between
the suffering they have known and the awfulness
in their future, smiling and laughing while somebody
in the village is very sick. There is laughter
every day in the terrible streets of Calcutta,
and the women laugh in the cages of Bombay.
If we deny our happiness, resist our satisfaction,
we lessen the importance of their deprivation.
We must risk delight. We can do without pleasure,
but not delight. Not enjoyment. We must have
the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless
furnace of this world. To make injustice the only
measure of our attention is to praise the Devil.
If the locomotive of the Lord runs us down,
we should give thanks that the end had magnitude.
We must admit there will be music despite everything.
We stand at the prow again of a small ship
anchored late at night in the tiny port
looking over to the sleeping island: the waterfront
is three shuttered cafés and one naked light burning.
To hear the faint sound of oars in the silence as a rowboat
comes slowly out and then goes back is truly worth
all the years of sorrow that are to come.

Don't mind me,I swore I had posted this already, but apparently not. Two manips, both Rose/Ten. Feel free to scroll on by.

_______
The color one is completely G-rated, the B&W one has Rose pushing a shirtless Ten up against a wall, so take that as you will in terms of NSFW-ness.
